I need to credit Chris Paulick. He designed a jig for the delta 10" bandsaw for cutting arched shell. Works just fine for wood. You can see his design in the tutorial forum or in YouTube. It is ingenious. Used correctly, you can build inlay that is almost seamless.

Love the radial grain in the coco rosette. How many sections did you use in that circle?

About 11-12. I think the blank was about 2" wide. I use whatever I can from the back material after cutting back to shape.

BTW, I don't use Chris's idea for shaping the edges, more a variation actually. I take a piece of 1/4" ply and make a duplicate slot, then cut that in half. One half is used on the rigid oscillating sander to get it close, then the other on a piece of granite tile with sandpaper glued to it. Always put a slight angle on the edge to assure a tight fit.
